Portfolio Assessment Briefing Session
[wb: 22/10/18]
During this session we were taken through the expectations of a creative reflective portfolio and the assessment guidelines and timeline. The portfolio will represent 20% of the term's grade and is a useful way of tracking thoughts, ideas and reflecting upon progress made. It will also help to elucidate others on the research process and how the projects evolves over time.
We looked at some images of the sketchbooks of Joseph Beuys, a prolific sculptor and educator, who once said his complex theories could all be shown evolving in four of his sketchbooks that he kept with him. The sketchbooks are an interesting assortment of seemingly disparent things that show the artist playig with ideas and planning. For example they include painted pages, sketches loose and complex, notes and even shopping lists. Looking at these images was inspiring to me as I tend to doodle or write down disparate notes so it was interesting to see how they could be really useful if maintained and reflected upon. This inspired me to maintain a physical diary of my research and study and a more concise online. blog.
We also studied some previous students portfolios which took the form of many different mediums including film. This has inspired me to think about collecting audio and video recording off various lectures, visits and interviews undertaken while researching the project.
